Tasmania v Commonwealth
State of Tasmania v The Commonwealth of Australia and State of Victoria (1904) 1 CLR 329 is a landmark decision of the High Court of Australia. The case involves a claim for Tasmanian customs tariffs earned prior to the Commonwealth Customs Tariff coming into force. The case is important in that here the High Court established that statutory interpretation of the Australian Constitution should employ the ordinary rules of interpretation.

This case is not to be confused with the better known Tasmainian Dams case Commonwealth v Tasmania (1983) 158 CLR 1.
